the night fell in an instant
led me blinded to a new world
where I dreamt of hungry kisses
and offered sweet surrender
floated on a sensory sea
nibbled by invisible fish
scrubbed by kelp fronds
a rogue wave crashed
invading every orifice
pounding me upon its self
scrambling, fighting, falling
I struggled to swim free
every attempt entangled
tighter seaweed bindings
wave after wave fell
filling my lungs with salty death
I pleaded with the sea to let me be

then all was still
and as quickly as the night had come
it slipped away
and alone
was never more so
